State Award to Teachers

The scheme of State Award was started with the object raising the prestige of teachers and giving public recognition to the meritorious services of outstanding teachers. The purpose of State Award to Teachers is to celebrate the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers in the state and to honor those teachers who through their commitment and industry have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students.

Conditions of Eligibility of Teachers

  • Classroom teachers with at least 15 years of regular teaching experience. Headmasters/Principals with 20 years of regular teaching experience out of which at least 5 years’ service, as Headmaster/Principal including CDC charge.
  • For teachers promoting Integrated Inclusive Education the regular teaching experience shall be reduced from 15 years to 10 years of regular service. In case of Headmasters/Principals, 15 years teaching experience including 5 years’ service, as Headmaster/Principal.
  • The Educational Administrators including DEOs/DEEOs/Principals DIETs, GETTIs, BITEs/Dy. DEOs/BEOs/ BEEOs and the staff of SCERT/SSA and staff working at the Directorate are not eligible for these awards.
  • Only those teachers having requisite years of teaching experience, as mentioned at Sr. No. (i) & (ii) above on 31st March of the year of Award, shall be eligible to be considered for the award.
  • No retired teachers shall be asked/permitted to apply for the award.
  • Only those teachers shall be eligible whose grading in the last ten years Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs/APARs) are (+A/A).
  • Only those teachers shall be eligible whose Board Class results (of 10th and 12th Classes) of last 5 years are not in minus as compared to board results.
  • In case of Head of Institution (Principal/Headmaster), the general school results of Board classes (10th and 12th) of last 5 years should not be in minus as compared to Board results.
  • Only those teachers shall be eligible whose class results of non-board classes of last 5 years are 80% or more.

  • Two years extension in service beyond superannuation i.e. upto 60 years.
  • Two advance increments alongwith dearness allowance for entire future service.

Procedure For Application And Selection:

  • All the applications would be received through an online web portal.
  • Every applicant shall submit a portfolio, online along with the Entry Form. The portfolio shall include relevant supporting material such as documents, tools, reports of activities, field visits, photographs, audios or videos etc.
  • Undertaking by the applicant: Each applicant shall give an undertaking that all the information/data submitted is true to the best of his/her knowledge and if anything is found at any later date to be untrue then he/she will be liable to disciplinary action.
  • The names of the teachers shall be recommended firstly by the District Level Committee through an online web portal.
  • Thereafter, the District Selection Committee shall recommend the names to the State Level Committee which will finally recommend the names of teachers to the State Government based on policy cretria.

Considerations To Guide The Selection Of Techers At Various Levels:

Teachers will be evaluated based on the evaluation matrix given at State Award Policy. Evaluation matrix contains six types of criteria for evaluation:

  • Academic Efficiency
  • Personal Achievements
  • Involvement of Social Life of Community
  • Co-Curricular achievements of the Students
